Treefort Music Fest needs our help Boise!

Here is a request from the fabulous Stephanie Coyle:

Here’s the deal. I have 250+ road weary bands to feed here in 32 days, when the wonder of Treefort Music Fest hits down. I’ve had a lot of very kind and generous friends and community members step up and contribute to our artist hospitality lounge (and swag bags), but there is plennnty room and need for more. Anything at all would be so helpful..chips, pretzels, bagels, cookies, pastries…anything. Email me (stephanie(at)treefortmusicfest.com) if you’re willing and able to help out. Thank you! XO

My fantasy dream date would be with David Bowie. Yes, I know - but he’s still hot. We’d be dancing and sipping the finest wine and be clothed in androgynous jumpsuits and make-up. Take that Lady Gaga.

(via early-onset-of-night):

Say hello to mechanically separated chicken. It’s what all fast-food chicken is made from—things like chicken nuggets and patties. Also, the processed frozen chicken in the stores is made from it.

Basically, the entire chicken is smashed and pressed through a sieve—bones, eyes, guts, and all. it comes out looking like this.

There’s more: because it’s crawling with bacteria, it will be washed with ammonia, soaked in it, actually. Then, because it tastes gross, it will be reflavored artificially. Then, because it is weirdly pink, it will be dyed with artificial color.

Does anybody else think it’s weird that they apparently keep piles of chicken slurm in cardboard box lids? (via rackattack)

Just say NO to chicken slurm.

MILK

Milk in the Diet

4. With its various products, milk helps to form a very long part of the dietary in most homes, but while nothing can take the place of this food and while it is high in food value, there seems to be a general tendency to think of it as an addition to the bill of fare, rather than a possible substitute for more expensive food. For instance, milk is very often served as a beverage in a meal in which the quantity of meat or other protein foods is not reduced. From an economical standpoint, as well as from the point of view of the needs of the body, this really extravagant, for milk is itself largely a protein food. The serving of a glass of milk offers the housewife an opportunity to cut down considerably the allowance of meat and eggs. Because of this fact and because milk and its products may be used to add nutritive value to food, to give variety, and to improve flavor, the deserve considerable study on the part of the housewife.
